Around the middle of 2008, a band of children in the outskirts of Kolkata gathered in a summer camp, organised by a few grownups and teenagers. Soon, the camp matured into regular weekly classes aimed at the cultural and social enlightenment of the local children.
At the same time, an informal primary school commences at Panga, a backward locality at Jalpaiguri, with considerable help from the inhabitants there.
An Adult Education Centre at Sreerampore followed soon.
In June 2010, these activities were registered under the NGO, Foundation We Care.
